CHEF MICHAEL HAIGH

A Warwick Rhode Island native, Michael graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York . His BA in communication with a concentration in TV production led him to produce work for VH1 and MTV. While he worked on infamous shows such as “Sixteen and Pregnant” and “I love the 90’s”, his profession grew lack-luster. It wasn’t until a chef friend asked Michael if he could help out at his restaurant a few nights a week, that he found his intense passion for cooking. He ended his career in TV production and enrolled in and later graduated from the International Culinary Center, formerly knows as The French Culinary Institute. Soon after, he began working at the well-known NYC restaurant The Meatball Shop, followed by The Vanderbilt in Brooklyn, under the direction of Michelin Star Chef Saul Bolton.

After living in New York for 13 years, Michael decided to make the brave move back home to Rhode Island in 2013. As fate would have it, he met his now wife, Lauren, and began a personal and creative journey of self discovery. He began working as sous chef at Garde De la Mer in Providence under the direction of Chef Robert Sisca of Boston’s Du Midi Bistro. A few years later he became executive chef for the non-profit organization Amos House, overseeing their catering division, More Than a Meal. It was here that Michael learned all that goes into running a catering company.

In 2018, Michael started Table 12. His dream for starting his own business was to have complete creative and personal freedom. He would be able to make his own food, write his own recipes and menus, work one on one with clients, and make his own hours. The restaurant life certainly did not afford him any of those things. It was time for a change.

Chef Michael’s hope for Table 12 is to always provide his clients with the most personalized experience possible. This means never compromising ingredients while offering innovative takes on crowd pleasing cuisine. He finds his ability to share his knowledge and skill with others is the most rewarding aspect of his career.
